Advantages of Nagpur

Nagpur is at the heart centre of India, making it one of the best locations in terms of accessibility. It is a cosmopolitan city and ranks 2nd in terms of literacy rate (89.5%) in Maharashtra, just behind Mumbai’s suburban district (Pune ranks 7th). It is the winter capital of Maharashtra and rated among the fastest emerging tier II cities in India. It has one of the most prominent Buddhist landmarks of modern times – Diksha Bhoomi.

13% of its population is Buddhists, 2nd only to Hindus and has been a hub of Buddhist activities ever since Dr Ambedkar embraced Buddhism on 14th October 1956 with half-a-million of his followers. It has been attracting Buddhists from all over the country on the day of ‘Vijaya Dashmi’ every year. Almost half-a-million Buddhists pay their obeisance at the Diksha Bhoomi on that day. In the last few years some more Buddhist landmarks such as – Nagalok, Dragon Palace Temple have come up in Nagpur.
